What an intriguing little read this book was! I think Geraldine Brooks is fast becoming one of my favorite authors! This was a remarkable story about the history of the priceless medieval Jewish prayer book, the Sarajevo Haggadah. Jumping back and forth in time and giving us beautiful and painful insights into the history of the book, the author does a wonderful job of wrapping facts with fiction and creating a very spellbinding read. This is definitely one to add to you own "to read" list!

Marvelous tale of a historic haggadah (a book of prayer and illumination of the Jews). A conservator is brought in to restore the book and discovers clues to the book's heritage. Fascinating. There is nothing more enticing to me than a book about a book.

Although it started out a little slow and rather tedious, I'm glad that I kept reading. I found this one to be very original in it's story line and loaded with history. The story is about a manuscript conservator who becomes obsessed with her current assignment. During her "relationship" with the Hebrew book known as the Haggadah, she uncovers various clues and oddities which draw herself and the reader in even more. Take your time with this one...you won't be disappointed.
