I feel badly for the man who wrote this memoir where he finds himself at a loss over the sudden death of his daughter, Amy. Her loss is a tragedy to all of us, because she was an amazing woman who made a difference both within her family and within her community. However, she was part of what seems to be a perfect family. They have money, great jobs, and they have famous friends - and loads of them, too. There is no strife, no money issues, no addictions, no suicides, or anything else negative t

Rosenblatt wrote his ""hauntingly lovely memoir"" (Christian Science Monitor) as a collection of journal-style entries--images, conversations, scenes, and moments of quiet contemplation, ranging from a few sentences to several pages--that encompass the 14 months following Amy's death. It's every parents nightmare, to have a child die before them. Roger Rosenblatt shares his thoughts and experiences with us after the unexpected death of his daughter, a doctor, wife and mother of three young children. His story chronicles how he and his wife moved in with his son-in-law and grandchildren, and began the process of grieving and putting their life back together.

Her hand surgeon husband and her parents work together to take care of the children while mourning Amy's loss. I liked the book and thought a lot about what would happen in the event of my own death. Who would take care of my kids, w

The past couple of years I have found myself drawn to books about grieving and loss, this one was about grandparents who help to raise their three young grandchildren after their daughter passes away unexpectedly. I liked it well enough, although I can't say that it made a profound impact on me. I agree with another reviewer that Rosenblatt's glowing descriptions of his daughter, while understandable, made Amy come across as one
