I'm still struggling with my feelings about this book. I think a good description is that I liked it but I didn't love it.
It took awhile for me to find a flow with this book, in part because of how the story was told (the primary character talking directly to her missing sister & intertwining the past and the present) and in part because of the pacing of the book. In the end, I think that it was critical for the book to be written from this perspective and that it really gave the story somethin ...more

I agree with a reviewer who said that the book jacket description did not do the book justice; it is so much more. Not only is it a mystery-thriller, it is a testament to the deep love between sisters. The writing is absolutely fantastic, descriptive and luscious. The fact that this is a debut novel makes it even more exciting. I look forward to the author's next book in April 2012.

Good mystery about a woman's search for her missing sister. Lupton does a nice job with telling a traditional story in a non-traditional way. I also found the story to be more relevant than standard mystery novels. I really enjoyed this one and would recommend it to my GR buddies.

A compelling page turner about one sister's quest to uncover her sister's murderer. For me it was a bit like Gone Girl in that I'm not sure all the facts add up and the ending wasn't quite believable. But maybe its just my skeptical nature. I still enjoyed it and couldn't put it down.

I loved this book! I wish I could give it 6 stars. Rosamund Lupton is a new british author and I hope she write many more. I was hooked from the first page and wished I had been on vacation so I could have read right thru it undisturbed. I'm not going to write a synopsis of this book you can see that for yourself here in goodreads. But if you love thrillers I suggest you pick this up today! My favorite book of 2011 so far!

I hated the ending. I think the overall flow was well written and made you want to finish it to know what happened. It leaves you questioning what? who? But perhaps that is a good thing.

I connected with the book. I have a sister who is 5 1/2 years younger than me. It was very intense to read the remembrances and flashbacks Bee had of her sister, Tess. The ending didn't surprise me so much. For me, it was a story about sisters (and the mom). There were many parts that hit me hard.

I read through the first half of this novel before flipping to read the story's ending. I have two sisters. The monstrous emotional pull of the book proves too much for me! What a gifted writer.
