Tender, sweet, heartwarming, heartbreaking. Just a few of the words I could use to describe this book. A death of a sibling and the ruin of a family seen through the eyes of a ten year old boy desperately trying to understand. While written simply, this novel bring you universal truths that are relevant no matter your age.

I wasn't sure about this book when I first started it. There is a lot of sadness going on with this family. The story is told in Jamie's point of view. Jamie's family suffered a tragedy several years ago and one of his siter's was killed, and his family falls apart. His father turns to alcohol and his mother runs off with another man. Read by the fabulous actor David Tennant, the audio version of this book was just wonderful. Through the eyes of a 10 year old boy whose 15 year old sister was killed in a terrorist bombing, we see the family breaking apart in heart wrenching detail. Through Jamie we feel how grief slowly plays itself out, the pain of growing up a little different and the sweetness of young love and friendship. I didn't want this one to end.
