What Members Thought
No one should put much stock in my rating. This book gets 5-star reviews from hundreds of people and rave blurbs and reviews from other contemporary fiction writers. I'm sure Saunders is brilliant. I just do not like this style. Did not find these stories humorous. Did not identify with the characters at all. I really pushed myself. Tried to figure out why I didn't get it. I heard and read that Tenth of December was a best book of 2012. I don't get it. My well-read neighbor said a guy's perspective prevails. No such thing has ever alienated me before, but he may be right. The final and title story was insightful. I did keep reading to finish; I don't always. Flustered!

Three stars because I get it and I really liked one of the stories. No more than three because I absolutely dislike the dialog style and the diary thing.
Dark, sometimes funny, and vaguely disturbing. What more could you want in a short story?! George Saunders is a master.
This book makes me think of driving and holding your head out of the window. It's fun and wild and a little dangerous.
