A virus is loose and it has affected the entire world. The wave of the virus has spread in phases. The first being the ones who died of this disease, the second and third being afflicted in some way, disabling them, physically or mentally. Very few unafflicted humans are left. Whole countries, nations, and governments have had to adapt to a new way of life and living.

The Hadens. These are the people that are locked into their bodies, paralyzed but with normal or high brain function. They, adult A virus is loose and it has affected the entire world. Very few unafflicted humans are left. Whole countries, nations, and governments have had to adapt to a new way of life and living.

The Hadens. These are the people that are locked into their bodies, paralyzed but with normal or high brain function. They, adults and children alike, are all kept in cradles in their homes and have nurses tend to them 24/7. Imagine having an operation performed on you and you are wide awake but unable to move and you feel everything being done to you. You are trapped.

The Integrators. These are the rare human citizens who might have had the virus but they survived, giving them full body function but also have the capability to ‘carry’ a Haden inside their brain.

Threeps. Androids, like robots with many computeristic capabilities. They are also used by Hadens to get around in the world.

All these people are implanted with neurological computeristic nets in their brains that give them the ability to work, play, socialize and function on a daily basis but only if you have an integrator or a threep.

Agent Chris Shane was one of the first Hadens to have a threep. His family being philanthropists funded the industry that made them. Chris is now a threep FBI Agent rookie, while his body is in a cradle at his parents house. His partner Leslie Vann was once an integrator. Chris’s second day on the job, he and agent Vann are called out to an apartment. There is a man on the floor with his throat slashed and a circuit headset nearby. An integrator. Another man is sitting on the bed, blood all over him, hands up and says “I don’t think I did it”. Another integrator. Chris and Vann now have their work cut out for them.

This science fiction thriller was really different. Creative to the max. I had to remember to differentiate and picture the characters in human form, integrators, hadens and threeps but once I was able to do that, the story flowed beautifully. The crime scene itself was such a mystery I had to keep reading. I felt like I was in a different world, computerized, yet civilized enough to be highly functional, orderly and somewhat weird. I thought to myself “Gee, this feels like FBI Bicentennial Man vs. the Body Snatchers", seriously! A few times, my body wiggled uncontrollably at the very thought of someone using my body to go to an amusement park or a restaurant, even eating something I really didn’t want. Ewww. *wiggle*. I’m not much of a computer wiz but the technology was easy enough for me to understand and believe me, there was a lot of it. So if you’re a computer wiz or just like computer technology, you’ll love this book. It was totally out of this world ...more
