Everything, Everything has a lot of mixed reviews - kinda similar to how I feel about the book. Madeline is severely allergic with a very weak immune system as a result of which she never leaves the controlled environment of her house. I couldn't see how a story like this would progress, and I'd certainly not expected a plot twist. I'm still not sure how I feel about the twist - it just left me feeling empty.

Loved, loved, loved this!
Has similarities to The fault in our stars, but great in its own right.
Listed as teen fiction but i am in my 40's and empathised well to the subject, despite never having any personal experience in relation to the subject.
Written sympathetically, and without giving anything away to spoil your enjoyment of it, there is a twist and its done very well, though maybe it isn't wholly unexpected. ...more

I'm not sure that I can even give this one a star rating because it's still unclear how I feel about it.
I feel like this book should have been the epitome of Contemporary, and the beginning absolutely was, but the ending just confused the crap out of me and was more like a psychological thriller? Weird mix.
We've all seen the commercials for the movie, which aside from already having the book is why I gave it a shot since I pretty much gave up on Contemporary a l ...more

An emotionally-driven novel, focusing on illness, first love, and living. It brings up great questions about how we should spend our lives--is it worth living even if there's a great risk?--and it is refreshing to see a WOC as the main protagonist in a YA novel. Olly, her counterpart, is lovable and can be truly sympathized with. Though I predicted the climax of the story, there were still details I didn't take into account and that were small surprises on th ...more

Thoroughly enjoyed this. A simple love story with a twist. I especially enjoyed all the illustrations included. It brought Madeline's world to life. This is Maddy's story so there are things missing. I wanted to learn more about Olly and about his sister Kara and his mom. But, it wasn't their story.
In many ways, we are all like Maddy. We live in our world, our bubble. It's not until we allow ourselves to venture out and explore, that we realize how small our bubble is and what we're missing out. ...more

There is a lot of hype surrounding this book, almost put me off reading it in case it didn't live up to expectations.
However I'm so glad I jumped on the bandwagon, written beautifully and great depth to characters very quickly. I loved this book! ...more
