SO conflicted about this book.
I absolutely loved it for the most part, but I HATED the ending. I will not spoil it, but I do not think it was a resolved ending.
Good for grades 5-up

My daughter likes to give me books that she knows will make me cry. You win, Grace.

A beautiful story of love—grown through fostering, trusting, forgiving. Great references to The Giving Tree, Wicked, and the Red Sox.

This book was recommended to me by a librarian friend of mine, so I had high hopes. It didn't disappoint. Carley, the main character, is interesting and endearing. Kids of all backgrounds can identify with her situation and struggles, and it rings true throughout the book. It is well-written and has short, digestible chapters that are easily navigated by kids. This is a great book for high third to fifth graders, and I think would make for a great read-aloud. ...more
