I've been wanting to read Wonder ever since I saw the movie trailer and got weepy. So I went to my library and put it on hold. And I was number 64 in line! Thankfully, the library had seven copies, so I only had to wait about a month for one to come my way. After I read it, I made my daughter read it, then we checked out the movie and watched it as a family. So worth it. This is a heartwarming story about a boy with a facial difference that makes him the center of unwanted attention. The story i

I'm being completely serious when I say that I think everyone should have to read this, regardless of age. As the story is broken down into sections told by different characters surrounding this little boy with a severe medical condition and an unusual face, I feel certain that EVERYONE can find bits of themselves in these chapters. My own extreme case of ezcema and a host of other medical "abnormalities" and eight moves as a child meant that I could identify with Auggie as he faced a new school

I loved this book and the messages that were contained within its pages: look beyond the physical, choose to be kind whenever possible, we were meant to stand out. I laughed, I cried, I felt compassion for such an amazing character that defied the odds. Thank you so much R.J. Palacio for writing such a beautiful book.

Wow. Just wow.
This book, told from multiple viewpoints, is amazing. The characters are believable and rounded out. There is character development and realism. It was touching and funny and made me cry. Then, the last portion (told from Julian's point of view) turned it all upside down and really made you think! This is a great book to read with your kids (or anyone!) and discuss differences and judgment and how everyone is fighting their own demons. It's a great book to discuss patience and tole ...more

It took me a couple of tries to get into this one, but I'm glad I made the effort. Warning, though: read this with a box of tissues by your side.
I think readers from 8 to 98 would enjoy this book, but fifth and sixth graders will probably relate to it best of all.
The characters Palacio creates in this book are my favorite part. It's hard not to love them, even when they're doing something just awful.
I would recommend this book to nearly anyone; it's one of those books that makes you feel like ...more

Excellent book.
The character relationships remind me of Harry Potter characters: August is Harry, Julian is Malfoy (rich privileged kid so thinks he's in charge), etc. ...more
