Elizabeth Chadwick is one of my favorite authors.
The Summer Queen is the 1st book in a trilogy. I am very excited to read them all. This book is the story of young Eleanor(Alienor) as the spelling the authors uses. She is a most fascinating character in history. This book is of her early life and her marriage to Louis VII. I greatly enjoyed the details of Eleanor's life with Louis VII. The story unfolded information that I didn't know about with regard to the actual travels of the Crusades from the smells to the rough terrain to the robberies along the path. I wish the author would have included a more extensive list of resources used so that I could read further about the items that I had limited knowledge (e.g. The Crusades).
