An interesting read of Scottish history during the Acts of Union spun around a romance between a fictional and real historical figure. I would have preferred more of the history of the Acts of Union, but I learned a great deal from what I read. In addition, I would have enjoyed learning more about the Countess of Slain and John Moray’s background. Another interesting element of the book was genetic memory, this also would have been interesting to learn more about but I’m glad it was introduced.

I loved the time travel aspect to this one and felt it was done really well. Yes, it had romance of which I'm not usually a fan but it was also well-done and pretty low-keyed.
