This was an okay read for me. It was an easy read but too simple of a story. It was very predictable and the characters were stereotyped. Three Americans set sail for Scotland during World War II in search of the Loch Ness Monster. This in itself seemed implausible to me. Wow just wow. I have happy tears. Such a great ending. Just such a great story. It was interesting seeing a pill addiction in the time of WW2, honsetly I didn't think pills were even invented then, lol. I liked learning about how people lived when the war was nearby, black out curtains, ration cards, shelters, gas mask rules, etc. The superstition with the crows I liked too. ...more

Definitely a coming of age story set in WW II Scotland. Many colorful characters with interesting backgrounds. The book moves with a reasonable pace keeping the reader's attention to the trials and tribulations of young Maddie & how she finds herself. ...more
