Similar to the Maisie Dobbs books. While I enjoyed this it didn't blow me away. Pretty good period feel- different from Maisie in that the setting here is during the war and Bess is still serving as a nurse although on medical leave for most of this book. One thing that irked me was inclusion of a scene where Bess describes the death of a boy back in India from snakebite.
