Well, I just felt sorry for the hound 🤨

I have such a hard time understanding some things in classics but that’s ok, I still like the book. I need to go back and watch the old black and white again

This my first Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Book; my first Sherlock Holmes.
I am still trying to figure out how much I liked it. So far, not very much.
Holmes seems a little pompous; Watson seems a little dull.
One thing I did like: the entire affair from start to finish, what happened and how they figured out what happened, was summarized in the last chapter. It confirmed that I had figured out what happened correctly. Affirmation... ah!!

Holmes and Watson find themselves on the Devonshire Moors as they seek to nab a murderer while putting to rest a family curse and proving that a spectral giant Hound is just a dog. It has been decades since I read this or any of Doyles' actual Holmes cases. I have seen many adaptations, retellings, satires. None are as good as the original tale.

A gothic tale of crime. An interesting story with valuable players, all important in the web of the terrible plot of family v. family. I greatly enjoyed reading from the narrative of Dr. Watson, a level headed intelligent character with common sense & courtesy. I can see why Doyle liked writing about him. :)

A fun tale of mystery. My first Sherlock Holmes story and although I'm not jumping at the chance to read more, I would if any came my way.
