I won this in a Goodreads Firstreads giveaway. I don't remember entering but that's neither here nor there. I don't remember when I started reading it so I just set it to today :-/

A beautiful and haunting story. I love a book with dual storylines in the past & present, and this book did it well. It was certainly disturbing and hard to read in parts, but it all made sense for the story. The audiobook version was excellent, especially that it allowed me to hear the Afghan names and words from the Dari language with the correct pronunciation. I love that the author used Dari words throughout the book for key terms. I could easily learn what they meant, and when listening, it
