I got this from the library and I can't figure out what to rate it so I had to go with a 3 for right now.
Here's the thing. I loved the movies better than the book. But I did enjoy the crazy, through the rabbit hole ness of the book. It's not scary in the least. Not to me anyway. But it's good weird and just uggg I can't explain it.
Anyway, sorry so short. I don't feel that good. I wanted to do a longer review on this one. 😕

I was very excited my local book club picked this for our autumn group read. I read it once a lot of years ago and didn't remember some details that stood out to me this time. While finding myself short on reading time, I decided I would use an audible credit and get the audiobook. I can say it is very well narrated. I enjoyed it and do recommend it. I have been a fan of Shirley Jackson for a long time. I have the kindle edition as well and referred to it mostly when we had our book club discuss

This is definitely a frightening story, one that leaves you wondering what is imagination and what is supernatural. The vagueness of events at Hill House during the investigative team's visit make the story quite chilling. I love that the author was able to create such a fright with the airs of mystery surrounding the house and the collapse of the human psyche, no need for violence and graphic horror in this story. The description of the house was fantastic, one could almost imagine staying at t
