Not a lot like the movie. A gentle, philosophical novel about one man, deeply damaged by WWI, who finds in Shangri-la his own perfect peace. Was it real or all a dream? My favorite quotes: "There was also in his nature a trait which some people might have called laziness, though it was not quite that.
