I had high expectations for this book because I find the whole witch hunt and trial concept fascinating to learn about, however this book didn't live up to them at all. I found it slow-moving and not very captivating. I would have a hard time recommending this to a young person to read unfortunately and I believe this is the first Newbery winner I've said that about! I think what disappointed me most was the lack of concentration on the witch part of the plot.
