I am not a big reader of Bio or Memoir's but this little book called me when I found it at library sale. The cover just sings :"Strong Woman"!

Beryl Markham was 4 years old when her father took her to live in British East Africa(now Kenya). I believe the years she spent growing up there hugely influenced the woman she became. Independent, adventurous, the woman grew up with African Warriors as her friends!
