I re-read this book by audio and even though the narrator was good, he didn't do a good job on Lisbeth's voice. I wish that Noomi Rapace would have done her own voice. That would have been awesome.
So, I have been a fan of this series for quite some time. I have the movie trilogy box set of the books that are fan freaking tastic! Although, now I have to switch from dvd to blu-ray! I also have a couple of different copies of the books!

As thrillers / mysteries go this is pretty well written. It starts off slowly because we need to get considerable background to set up the scheme. But after about 100 pages it really takes off. Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist specializing in financial matters, teams with Lisbeth Salander, a young genius at computer hacking, to investigate the 30-year-old disappearance of the young heiress of a major corporate dynasty. This was a real page-turner! Can't believe I have owned this book for so many years and only now have read it. Loved the way the story unrolled, how the various characters were introduced, and how well the various plots were wrapped up, yet you definitely know there is more to come, more to learn about these characters.

There were parts of this book I loved (mainly the suspenseful, mystery-centered plot, the character development was pretty good and the setting was cool), but also parts that had me shaking my head. The whole beginning and end of the book were boring in comparison to the central murder-mystery. It almost seemed like two different books. I liked it enough to definitely read the next two in the trilogy, but the novel as a whole left something to be desired.

☆☆☆ 1/2
This was a good and enjoyable read, a bit slow in parts but all together glad I've picked this up. ...more
