So I read the newest editions of the books that I’m going to collect. I have so many different collections I’ll probably add later. In these new books I actually love the art on all the pages instead of the interactive stuff. I put together a collage of a couple pages

2024: Summer Break started but life threw me a curve ball last week. I did not as much pick up a book for four days. That’s life. Last weekend, my daughter and I started crafting together our summer movie list, which, of course, includes our annual viewing of favorite series like the original Star Wars trilogy, Mission Impossible, and Harry Potter. She is finishing seventh grade and first read Harry in kindergarten but decided that it was time for a re-read. Yesterday we started discussing key e

"Harry Potter has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He's never worn a Cloak of Invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry knows is a miserable life with the Dursleys, his horrible aunt and uncle, and their abominable son, Dudley. Harry's room is a tiny cupboard under the stairs, and he hasn't had a birthday party in ten years.

When someone suggested this book for our book group we virtually all gave a collective groan. I did not want to read this immensely popular kid's book about a young wizard. But all I can say is ... WOW! Our entire book club LOVED it! I was hooked and read all four of the (then) existing books. Well-written. Good vocabulary. A "moral" story. There are universal themes here and the writing moves the story along quickly.

Second read. I loved this! I read the newer version this time with the animated photos that is available to read for free right now if you have Kindle Unlimited. I highly recommend it. There were also things I didn't remember.
Coming back later with a better review and a few quotes. This just made my heart happy. Believe it o not I never read the whole series so I am now ready for that and will do it this summer. I can't wait. Love these characters. Seems I am late to the party, and I have seen ...more

Still a wonderful read, though at least the 3rd time actually reading it (I have listened to Jim Dale read the audiobook a few times as well). This time I opted for the original British edition and frankly I don't understand why they changed the title for US audience? there were a handful of vocabulary that were changed in the text -- barely noticeable.

I've re-read this one so many times - in hardcover, paperback and eve audio - I've lost count. Having a long drive this past weekend to my maternal family reunion, I needed an audiobook I'd already read to listen to as I drove. (I only can listen to audio of books I've read) Lucky for me I had just acquired Stephen Frye reading it with one of my Audible credits, and it seemed a fitting 'reunion' with Harry, Ron & Hermione in Hogwarts Year 1.

Always lovely to spend time at Hogwarts with Harry, Ron and Hermione. I had actually forgotten bits here and there, but not a lot. Definitely an excellent pandemic insomnia listen. Enjoyed it so much I ended up listening to it at other times as well.
The audio is superb given the master Jim Dale is bringing it to gorgeous life. Won a few awards for doing so too.
