Another 5 star story from Kate Morton.
“MY REAL NAME,
NO ONE REMEMBERS,
THE TRUTH ABOUT THAT SUMMER,
NO ONE ELSE KNOWS,”
This is how Kate Morton's latest novel begins. What really happened on that tragic beautiful summer night? This story begins in 2017 with Elodie Winslow, a young archivist in London who uncovers a leather satchel containing a beautiful photograph and a sketch book. What do these items mean?

I don't think I need to explain the story as so many have already read this book. I will tell you what I liked and what stopped me giving it that 5th star.
Morton is a truly gifted writer. She was able to pull me in and keep me interested throughout, even though the pace of the story was a bit slow for me. Also, I just think there was too much going on, too many stories to keep track of, too many "chance" happenings that did not seem likely to happen.

3.5* Connections, connections, connections. Fascinating trip through time centered on a house, Birchwood Manor, that holds a fascination for multiple people from 1862 through the present. In 1862 the Manor became the artistic center of the Magenta Brotherhood (think Pre-Raphaelites) until a tragic mystery forces them apart. I loved how the story jumped around looking at events in 2017, 1928, 1899, and 1940 as well as returning to 1862. (view spoiler)

I didn't finish this one. This is the 2nd time ever I've given up on a book. I couldn't get into it, didn't care about the characters, and it's way too slow for my liking. I didn't find the mystery intriguing enough to want or need to figure it out or be told what it is.
