Jennifer Robson has crafted a compelling historical novel linking the London of 1947 and the Toronto of 2016.

London, 1947: The social event of the season is the impending wedding of Princess Elizabeth and Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. We meet Ann Hughes, an embroiderer at Hartnell's, a 'house' in London that creates beautiful clothes for the rich and famous. We also meet Mimi, a young Jewess from France, who has fled the horrors she experienced there. She is able to procure a position at Hartne

The subtitle is all the synopsis anyone needs: A Novel of the Royal Wedding. Okay, maybe a bit more … not Charles & Diana; not William and Kate; not Harry and Meghan. No, this royal wedding is that of Elizabeth and Phillip

This wonderful book by Jennifer Robson is a dual time historical fiction about the wedding gown worn by Princes Elizabeth in 1947. It is much more than a novel about a wedding gown. In 1947 Anne Hughes and Miriam Dassin are assigned to make the embroidery for Princess Elizabeth’s wedding gown. We learn their stories of how hard their lives are and the secrets that they both have.
In 2016 Heather in Tor

This is my first novel by Jennifer Robson, although I have read her novella/short story in the Fall of Poppies: Stories of Love and the Great War. So going in I was expecting a bit of love and war and Robson does not disappoint. The novel weaves from present day, 2016 to 1947 with three main characters. We have Ann and Miriam in 1947, having survived the war in London and France, the two women now work at the
