The Marriage Portrait is a beautifully written narrative of the marriage of Lucretia diCosimo de’Medici
and Alphonso Duke of Ferrara. It is written with facts and fiction. Little is known about what really happened. Not much is known about Lucrezis’s life, but Maggie O’Farrell does a wonderful job with characterization.

I liked the story but then put it down, and then had little urge to pick it back up - but I wanted to finish, so I did. Three stars because it was entertaining as I read it and I did want the protagonist to conquer and rise above.
