This kind of read a bit like a middle grade book, but definitely had the gruesome aspects of a higher aged young adult read. Between carnival games involving dead children's heads, and demonic babies breast feeding from dead women....the novel definitely went to some strange places. However, I did like the whole idea of the Vours, and how they steal your soul and take over children's bodies, and I found myself picturing little Damien from 'The Omen' more than once. So I'm back on track with reading (for now) and I picked up this one. I'm not sure what I expected buuut this wasn't what I thought it would be. But in a good way. It had some nice twists and all a nice idea but I wasn't very scared. And as a horror story I wished I would have been.

Overall it was okay. Like I said a good original idea, creepy enough characters and all but I felt like at the end something was lacking. Like I don't care to go read the second book but I will anyways for the hell of

Very good read. It took me awhile to read it simply because this book was creepy and I've never read anything remotely considered scary. Although it scared me, I still enjoyed it till the end. The cliff hanger on the end was wonderful and I can't wait to read the sequel. ...more
