As the first "Miss Marple" book I was surprised that she didn't play a larger role, or be the narrator of the book. I think my expectations were aligned to the TV series!
The book is narrated by the Vicar about a murder that occurs in his study. It was quite an enjoyable AC novel, but I think I still prefer Poirot :) ...more

Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors for many reasons, and this is the best of her books so far. It is told in the first person and introduces Mrs. Marple, one of the best (and nosiest) lady "detectives" ever written. If Agatha Christie ever wanted to get away with murder, she wouldn't have had much of a problem...the end of this book was very surprising! I don't think I would ever have figured it out.

Really liked this and for some reason I have never read an Agatha Christie novel before. I think I'll read more of them in the future. This was a great Free Friday Nook Book for sure.

I love Agatha Christie and out of all her charaters Miss Maple is my favorite.
