Really enjoyed this cozy spy thriller (seems to be an appropriate genre name). I had marked this as read several years ago and apparently didn’t like it, giving it one star, but reading it this time was a total surprise - if I have read it, I didn’t remember it at all!
I found the opening very touching, and right away saw Mrs. Pollifax as a likable, sympathetic character- a widow with her adult children living far away from her New Jersey home, raising their own families, she has her volunteer wo ...more

The plot was slightly dated in who the "enemy" was, but it was a delightful romp, with a bit of seriousness thrown in to keep the reader on the edge of their seat. I really liked the main character and can see my Grandmom as her toughness and ability to think on her feet. :) I also loved the fact that she was from New Jersey and it WASN'T a dig or slam against the

Equal parts charm and thrills; I enjoyed meeting Mrs Emily Pollifax in her first cozy-espionage story.

A fun cozy little spy thriller. Lots of likeable characters. It was written in the 60's and all the references to the Russians and Red China were funny to read.
