The tears came, because he was afraid and angry, but mostly because he was homesick. He had never understood what that word meant until now. This wasn't summer camp, and it wasn't a field trip. This was a nightmare, and all he wanted was for it to be over. He wanted to wake up. And because he couldn't, he fell asleep with his narrow chest still hitching with a few final sobs.

I really enjoyed this. Probably more like 4.5 stars. For its length, it kept my attention the entire time. I both read and listened and the narrator was good. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but my favorite King books are his non-horror books. I loved 11/22/63 and this is my second favorite. His horror books are usually 3 stars. Next up from this author will be The Stand.
While this was not horror to me, horrible things did happen...to children. "Gifted" children are taken from their families and t
