I read this book because I loved the 2007 movie starring Will Smith. After reading it though I felt that the movie butchered the book. This is yet another great story of apocalyptic survival. I'm a sucker for apocolyptic novels. It also has an amazing twist to the vampire genre. Written by an amazing author with a great writing style. If you love vampires you'll love this book. :D

I'm glad I took the time to read the story "I am Legend" as it was very different then the film. Both very good in their own way. I really enjoyed reading the parts about Neville and his bizarre relationship with Ben Cortman. I also thought Richard Matheson did a good job in conveying the loneliness that Neville was feeling and how detached he had become from everything.
This book did take me quite a while to read as there are a bunch of short stories in it as well. Some better then others.
