First this is a YA book meant to be read by YA. So, that being the case I find it really frustrating when adults bash upon the characters for being naive or for making bad decisions. Well, DUH we were all annoying once, made bad decisions and felt we were ADULTS because we could drive a car.

Furthermore, I've read some reviews bashing the line about Beauty being the most important part of a person. I really think people took this out of context. Furthermore, I've read some reviews bashing the line about Beauty being the most important part of a person. I really think people took this out of context. What Claire was saying is that people tend to value looks more than brains; thus why she tended to get bullied. She was not saying that was right but that was her experienced. "Brains meant being picked on" and "Beauty got you lots of friends." In real life look at how many videos there are on Girl's Gone Wild or getting Beaded necklaces if you flash your boobs.

Now, Claire is suppose to be a SMART girl but not Street smart. There is a difference. You can be a super star in school but not have a clue about the real world. Book smart doesn't mean you're going to make great decisions when it comes to facing reality. And it is clear as day that Claire doesn't know a damn thing about being street smart. So, yes she makes a lot of stupid decisions. It is annoying but I think she's slowly growing up. Really she's a babe surrounded by big bad wolves.

Some found it annoying that she kept going back to school even though she kept getting seriously hurt. Well, you could say that is stupid but some could also say "You go girl" for not letting those evil girl's prevent you from following your dreams. Furthermore, as I mentioned above, she isn't the smartest cookie when it comes to being street smart.

What I like about this series is the whole Premise of a Vampire Runned town. The fact that humans have the appearance of freedom when really they are still cattle. It isn't a completely new idea but it does have some fresh ideas mixed into the plot. There is always room for improvement but this is the first in the series so the author has room to grow.

This is the first in a series set in a town ruled by some very evil vampires. Has interesting young protag and characters (including a fascinating ghost). Look forward to more in the series
