In all honesty, I have been getting tired of the vampire fad and the love stories that are inevitably associated. However, I enjoyed reading A Shade of Vampire. The setting was new and interesting. Although I hated some of the characters, aka Lucas and Claudia, they added to the story. What plot can go without some villainous personality? I liked the dynamics of the protagonists, but what really drew me into the book was Sofia. Her individuality from many of the heroines that you encounter in to

As I read this book, I developed mixed feelings for it. The author does a great job in the writing of this book. The book flows well and is easily understandable with no confusion. It was easy to read along and keep up with what was going on.
As I read, I felt myself sucked in into the plot, wanting to know what happens next and how.
One thing I didn't like was that I was unable to connect to the main character, Sofia. Sofia gives hints here and there about her rough home life and gives the impre ...more

I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Sophia Claremont has been captured by a group of vampires and secreted away to an enchanted island of night to become the human slave of vampire prince Derek Novak. He is smitten with her humanity and empathy upon their first encounter. What unfolds, is a strange tale about falling in love.

A Shade of Vampire is about a girl, Sofia Cleremont, who is kidnapped on her seventeenth birthday and put into a "harem" to be a (assumed, sexual) slave to the Prince of vampires, Derek Novak. Fortunately for Sofia, her beautiful blue eyes, soft red hair, and LLI (Low Latent Inhibition) catch the newly awoken vampire's attention, and he decides to curb his sociopathic tendencies and tries to play nice.

I received this wonderful book to read from the author in exchange for a honest review..... Well here goes! This book was fabulous! Right away I felt myself being sucked into this story, so much so that I finished entire book in one sitting! I loved the plot. Vampires are my thing, and these ones were no joke. Ruthless, dangerous, and sexy, the author gives us a tantalizing taste of what life is like in the Shade. These characters were vibrant, and full of life. The chemistry between Sofia and D

I read somewhere this was what all Twilight and Harry Potter fans were waiting for. I thought, "Great!" The only mix is vampires and a witch were in it... and the main vamp falls for main human. It was totally predictable in the romance part but the descriptions of The Shade were pretty neat- my imagination really enjoyed the ideas that they had as part of their community. I'm mildly curious about what happens next... but it'll have to wait for me to be in a limbo reading mood again.

The minute I started reading, I couldn't stop. It's a short book - but the characters were developed and interesting, the world was detailed, and the storyline intriguing.
