Not many people are allowed in to know the real heartbreak she hides behind the ball breaker woman in charge persona at work or the Mistress Marilyn shell on the right night. When she gets the chance for revenge on her x-boyfriend, the one who broke the last piece of her heart, she takes it with a passion. Her success has come from her perseverance and take no shit attitude and it's all directed at Daniel Alexander. Buying up most of his father's failing company Alexander Mobile, she thinks will be the thing that helps her put herself back together. What she never saw coming was Levi, the one who breaks her no sex with the same person twice rule. A sexy sub she meets at the club who is willing to let her push him to his limits in the bedroom, but turns out pushing her outside of it. When he's on the board of her new company Seven's forced to confront things she's long since buried under revenge, hate and denial.

Hers is a surprisingly beautiful story about acceptance and growth. This book completely snuck up on me and knocked me on my ass. As a reader I can be hard to wow, I can be cynical and being someone who has read a lot, I get easily bored with cliques or overused story lines. Most books I've picked up I've probably read something like it already. That's where this book comes in. Yes, I've read a ton of erotica, BDSM, taboo, a little bit of everything. I figured the synopsis read well and sounded awesome but it was going to be another book like I've read before, hopefully well written and a nice escape from every day life. What I got was an emotional story with characters that I'm still thinking about days later, a surprisingly deep and rich storyline, and so much potential for books to come.

I loved Seven, she was probably the top 5 female characters I have been able to relate the most to. No, not because I'm secretly a Domme with trust or parental issues, but because she was real. There was so much beauty in her rawness. She coped the best way she knew how to and took a lot of hits for it. Enter one of the hits that I still have mixed feelings about, her best friend Star. Without major spoilers let's just say that Star wasn't the great best friend I thought she was, even if her actions were later explained and more understandable. Seven has clung to her because she's the one person that's always there and she trusts, even if that trust is sometimes blind or means she has to forgive her for things she wouldn't forgive others for. She accepts her for who she is, and has even had the same upbringing. I've forgiven her enough to itch for her story but I'm still holding a slight grudge.

Of course the other one we have to talk about is Levi. Wow, I didn't expect half of what we got from this character. He turned out to be complex and a little damaged, but really the best thing that ever happened to Seven. From a chance encounter at a club he turned into someone I never tired of reading about. I'm usually all about the alpha dominate male leads but Levi made me rethink everything.

I can't end this review without mentioning the sex. We got a good dose of steamy variety without taking away from the storyline. Yes, there's heavy and inventive sex, it's erotica, but it was done in such a way it was essential to the progression. I will say hooray for no overused foreplay and descriptions or boring sex leaving me skimming. There are scenes that will leave you panting and bowing to Ms. Robertson while begging for more.

What a promising debut, obviously this one's going on my favorites list!
