[UPDATE]
1) according to a note from the author (somewhere) there will be a sequel, but they don't know when.
2) if you read the news reviews on Amazon, you will find one that says the ocean struggle in The Ice Limits is one of the best ever. I haven't seen that many, but I believe it. The Amazon review lists a couple.
[/UPDATE]

This book published in 2000 is a very interesting novel about recovering a giant meteor from the Cape Horn islands. Sub theme is living and working on a converted oil tanker

Self-contained tale of characters involved in an impossible engineering feat. Much time is spent delving into backstories of people who act completely out of character when pushed to the edge. Fantastical plot twists that are really not, to the engineer who designed the project. He seems to have any and every contingency planned for, no matter how outrageous.

My second non-Pendergast book by this dynamic duo. I was up till 2 am twice so I guess that's a good indication that they are able to write an engaging novel. They left it as a cliff hanger and as far as I know haven't come back to it directly. Fun book all in all. ...more

I hate them for the ending. The meteorite part I expected because there is always some sort of twist with them, but making such a cute little love story out of it and having it end like that made me made. These two can never let anyone be happy, geeze.

I loved the book though, fantastic. :D

Curious about how Glinn survives the ordeal, though...

I ended up enjoying this book. Took a while to get going but then it really picked up. I always enjoy books by Preston & Child.
