I wasn't sure what to make of this book; it started off rather slowly. My friends all read it and loved it, so I gave it a whirl. Although a really good book, I wouldn't say it was the BEST book I've read. But then again, I've read so many. It's definitely a thought provoking book of what is morally right and wrong and the consequences that go along with each. I'm only 2/3 of the way through and this book is killing me. I'm a Thomas Hardy fan so I can usually handle depressing, but last night as I read I was blubbering like a baby! It's very readable but Amir is such an unsympathetic protagonist, I started out rooting for him and now I want to punch him in the face.
OK, now I'm done I don't know if I feel much better about Amir as a person, but at least there was a slightly positive ending. I don't know if I could've coped if Sohrab hadn't survived. ...more

Fantastic book AND movie. Totally rec. it to anyone. It's easier to understand the movie if you have read the book first. Some very sad things happen, so be prepared to cry your eyes out.

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but it got raves reviews so I tried it out. Needless to say the reviews were dead one...this book was a great read.
