No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy is such a dark, dark novel. It focuses mostly on the evils of men and their grand desire for money.
A hunter happens upon a crime scene and 2.4 million dollars that has been abandoned. Obviously the owners of the millions are on the lookout to reclaim their drug money. Amazing book, if anything it managed to be even more disturbing than the movie. I loved the character of Sheriff Bell, a simple man trying his best to be a good and honest person, not the typical infallible hero. Chigurh's unparalleled evilness sent shivers down my spine. I've waited too long to read Cormac McCarthy and will look forward to reading more of his work.

This is a rare occasion on which I enjoyed the film more than the book. Direction by the Coen brothers and Tommy Lee Jones' superb acting brought to life many more layers of the story.
