My boys read this is in school and I wonder how much differently I would feel about the book if I had read it as a teenager. "The Outsiders" is about teenagers, written by a teenager, and is sometimes credited for starting the YA genre. I thought the characters were fairly well developed and the first person narrative made it more thought provoking. I read this in 7th grade, and just recently watched it with my children. I think it would be good to have for some to read. I remember it wasn't very big. I enjoyed it, and was already fizzling out as far as school was concerned, but you couldn't stop me from reading a good book.
