I really enjoyed this novel. The characters were interesting and I was invested in the outcome. I was somewhat confused by the intermingling of the stories of the two families, at times it seemed it should be two novels. I enjoyed Steinbeck's style and was surprised to read phrases and words that I thought were more current in their origin. It is nice to read a "classic" and find that you think it deserves to be so. ...more
