Readers on this site have given this book mixed reviews, and after finishing it, I can understand why. It's a very quiet book with little action and after understanding the dystopian premise of the book, I can see where this quietness might be disappointing. Yet it is this quiet voice that is so necessary in bringing about the profound story this book is telling. The voice is haunting yet inviting, and will stay with you long after you have finished the novel. The narrator's tone seeps into the

i was very impressed by this book..it was quite heartbreaking and breathtaking- when i reached the ending i understood the drama behind the characters..the extent of it. "Never let me go" is somewhat similar to "the remains of the day" : the characters wait for so long their happy ending only to find that their chance has passed and all they can do is to accept that life can be this way..
I recommend this book wholeheartedly and i hope you all like it as much as i do :D ...more

Wow. I really don't know how to explain how/what I feel about this book, but I am compelled to say I really liked it. A very different style of writing for me. I felt that the author never outright explained the basis of what was going on in the story....you had to figure it out on your own. The ending was very sad to me. This is a very thought provoking novel told in the first person. For the most part I enjoyed the narrative although, at times, it seemed to jump around unnecessarily. Ishiguro brings up questions of medical progress vs. ethical actions without being preachy. Reading this novel only reaffirms my belief that all life must be held in the highest regard and souls cannot be deemed expendable in the name of progress.

Dommage !

A bit of work to get through, but about halfway through I found myself wondering about the characters when I wasn't reading the book and looking forward to what would happen to them next.

I want to give this a 4.5. Although I struggled a bit in the beginning, this book hit me around page 80. Then I couldn't put the book down.
