What does it say that I skipped to the end of the book to see how far through history it went? I never do that. So as you might guess, I wasn't overly impressed with the book, but maybe that's because I've heard repeatedly over the last 7 years how fabulous it is. As such, it couldn't possibly meet my expectations.
It sort of felt like just the bare bones of a story, as if it was the watered down film adaptation version of the original book. Considering that it's a rather thick book, that's sad. ...more

Gregory's books are perfect for anyone who (like me) is interested in Tudor history but doesn't have the time or patience to delve into a stodgy non-fiction. I've read other books about Henry VIII and his wives but none where I was able to identify with the characters. If you're a stickler for historical accuracy look elsewhere, but for an immensely entertaining read I highly recommend this book.

The book was okay. the proble was that, first, i knew what was going to happen in the end of the novel, so their was no srprise, and there wasn't a charactor i coud sympasize with, so when tragity fell, i didnt even really care. if anyone reads this book, dont read any of the end, because it basically gives the whole entire book away.
