I read this book under its new name "Invictus" then I watched the movie carrying the same name. Carlin sheds light on the role of sport in mitigating and resolving conflicts. Unlike the movie, the book goes deep into the roots of the apartheid regime of South Africa and the struggle of Nelson Mandela to claim the rights of the black people. Nevertheless, I think that Carlin was professionally neutral in his description of events. It is a very enlightening book written in a beautiful style. ...more
