I really enjoyed this novel. I appreciate well drawn characters and "The Help" has them in abundance. I enjoy the first person narrative from the three different perspectives. After reading the book our Pages and Popcorn group got together to watch the movie which was also very good. The novel is superior to the film adaptation but that is to be expected. I look forward to reading Stockett's future work.

I fell in love with the characters in this book. Each one had so much personality and the author did a great job of bringing different facets to characters where first impressions often changed and characters I didn't particularly care for in the beginning, I was cheering for in the end. In addition, there were so many moments that made me laugh out loud, want to tear up, or grit my teeth in anger. I would highly recommend this book to everybody and it's now earned a spot on my very short list o

4 stars right after I finished reading it. It's some months later and I've had time to mull it over and a 3 now. Still, an interesting read.
