Lu en audio. En grande adepte de la trilogie originelle, je ne pouvais pas passer à côté de ce préquelle, où on découvre le président Snow sous un nouvel angle.
Comment ai-je pu aimer à ce point ce livre alors que je déteste cordialement ce personnage ? Dans ce tome, certes on en apprend plus sur le passé de Snow pendant et avant les Jours Sombres, le statut déchu de sa famille, sa relation avec sa grand-mère et sa cousine Tigris. Mais on voit surtout les rouages géniaux que met en place Collins ...more

I was not sure how I would feel about this book after seeing the average rating. I don’t usually read many reviews because I’d rather not take a chance on having my experience tainted.

I enjoyed this book more than I expected. I read the series as it was released so it has been quite a while since my reading. Alussa meni jokunen hetki tottua siihen, että kertoja oli vaihtunut ja että tapahtumat tapahtuivat ennen ensimmäisen Nälkäpeli- kirjan tapahtumia. Vaikka siitä toki olin lukenut takakannesta ja se hyvin tuotiinkin esille, niin silti meni aikaa ennen kuin pääsi sisälle tarinoihin. Ihan jännä idea kirjoittaa toisen kertojan voimin tarinaa ja siitä, miten Nälkäpeli sai alkunsa, mutta jotenkin se ei ollut myöskään hyvä juttu, että niin tehtiin. so after reading this prequel it kind of makes me want to re-read the hunger games trilogy now because this prequel explains a lot of Snow's actions and how he became who was in the rest of the books. he actually seemed likeable in the beginning of this story as a young adult, trying to do right by everyone, but as time went on and his moral compass is challenged i think it really did affect his perspective on a lot of things and it changed the person he became because he actually became pretty so after reading this prequel it kind of makes me want to re-read the hunger games trilogy now because this prequel explains a lot of Snow's actions and how he became who was in the rest of the books. he actually seemed likeable in the beginning of this story as a young adult, trying to do right by everyone, but as time went on and his moral compass is challenged i think it really did affect his perspective on a lot of things and it changed the person he became because he actually became pretty cruel at times. it also seemed that a lot of the people he had to deal with on a regular basis were kind of screwed up and apparently probably also had some influence on what he felt was okay or not because as the story continues you can see him justifying why he did certain things. the rest of my thoughts are kind of spoilery so read at your own risk (if anyone is actually reading this) if you haven't finished yet... overall it was interesting and i did enjoy reading this story. i can't sat it added THAT much new information that we didn't already know from reading THG but like i said it did make me want to re-read the rest of the books. unfortunately with two other library books waiting in the wings no time for that right now, but i would say it was still worth reading this since i enjoyed the rest of the series, too.

After a reread (before seeing the new movie!) I decided to give it 4 stars ⭐️

The hunger games world is so complex and this book helps to see another side of it, to see how everything started.
I compared the world we got to know in the original trilogy and this older world again and again, and it was really enjoyable to understand the meaning behind so many details, meaning we didn’t know before this book.
