Sedaris is basically a combination of Woody Allen and Jerry Seinfeld. Allen annoys me to tears - Seinfeld I'm okay with. In this collection of random "essays" (wafflings) the Allen-styled pieces felt whiny and painful. The chapters adopting more of a Seinfeld style of odd observations were tolerable to entertaining.

I know many rave about Sedaris, so I readily admit it's a personal preference. :)
