Revealing but only to a point, the author is never asking for your sympathy but is just telling you a little about how life is for her, offering reflections on her life as a talker and writer, as well as a flinching but honest look at the image she lately confronts in the mirror.
It’s only a small collection of essays but they impart nuggets of wisdom that you can take to the bank: "Never marry a man you wouldn't want to be divorced from," and, even more importantly, "Don't buy anything 100% wool even if it seems to be very soft and not particularly itchy when you try it on in the store."
Funny, and told in that same conspiratorial tone that Lena Dunham has this is a great book to read after Not That Kind of Girl.
