"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times"
I've always found Dickens quite funny so this book was more of a challenge for me than I expected. Of course, there isn't much humor to be had in such a dark subject so I would concede that it is understandable. It took me some time to really get into the book but by the end I was wholeheartedly engaged and weeping. A great piece of historical fiction and worth a read. ...more

Is it heretical to rate a Dickens book anything less than a 5? Sadly, as much as I eventually enjoyed the story, I found it to be very wordy, slow at times, and confusing at times. But overall I liked the character development and found the last third of the book to be exciting and fully interesting. Worth a read, not just for historical/ cultural value.
