I now know why Alice Munro is considered a master of the short story! I own a number of her books, but unfortunately had not cracked them open. I can’t wait to read other collections now that I have read Too Much Happiness. I was completely enthralled by the first half of the book. “Dimensions” left me breathless. I found “Fiction” left me terribly sad and “Wenlock Edge” and “Free Radicals” had the feel of full length psychological thrillers packed into the short story form. I also loved “Wood”

What I enjoyed most about my first time reading Alice Munro's short stories was her ability to weave a narrative that feels organic and realistic. Her writing is not linear, it is tangential, much like real life. Overall, I found most of the stories fell in the "good, but forgettable" category. The highlights for me were "Fiction", "Wenlock Edge", and "Deep Radicals". Unfortunately, a lot of the characters and settings felt repetitive.
