Reading this novel was akin to witnessing a train wreck: Horribly fascinating, compelling in its repulsion. Anna is an American living in Zurich with her successful husband and three children. She would seem to have an ideal life. But, she makes choice after choice apparently in the pursuit of pain and self destruction.
