Being a librarian, she has a particular fondness for “The Library”. p 192, Magic for Beginners
And I, being a librarian, couldn’t help but have a fondness for the title story in this collection since it was about a librarian and a magical TV show about a library! I loved the subtle use of fantasy and magical realism in all of the stories. My favorites were “Catskin”, although it made me squeamish at times, and “Stone Animals”. This is a fun quirky book, It is not really my cup of tea, classified as "slipstream" it is weird and wacky and sometimes completely ridiculous. It is a collection of short stories, some more fantastical that the others. People disappear into handbags, zombies frequent convenience stores, witches give birth to houses. Ms. Link is a vary talented writer, but these weird and wild stories are not engaging for my reading style.

After reading Get in Trouble I thought I was a Kelly Link lover, but the stories here did not engage me. Despite their quirkiness (and I love quirk), they felt dull and flat. I read about half the stories, and was not inspired to read the rest. On the otherhand, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cover.
