There are some books that affect you long after you stop reading them; there are some books that come back to you when you least expect it, and you want to suggest everyone read it at least once... yet you're shy to recommend it to many people because if they don't have the same experience with it you'll feel bad (and likely wonder what the hell is wrong with the recipient, the cold-hearted bastards...). The gist of logotherapy is that man must find meaning in his life and that that meaning can change over time; even over moments. It`s about recognizing that without a purpose man has no reason to continue living. Frankl then goes on to explain what a meaning may be to any individual, using his experience in a concentration camp as an example.

I took off a star because I thought this could have been written and explained better, especially the second half.
I was not as impressed with this book as many other people. Perhaps because I have already spent some time thinking about some of his ideas (even though I had never heard the term logotherapy before)...so they weren't particularly enlightening to me.

Well this is a great book, for the most part. Some of his philosophizing lost me, but his explanations about the human spirit are really intriguing
