The first half is amusing enough. The protagonist is a toned-down Borat, not as crude, and not as stupid, but often as embarrassing.
In the second half of the book, Bain Ganyo is fixing elections, starting a newspaper, serving as a delegate. Try to imagine Borat in this role. It's as if the author found a following for the more light-hearted Bai Ganyo tales, and then plopped him into more serious fare which 1) is not comprehensible to someone without a knowledge of Bulgarian history and 2) shows ...more
